Desvincul-arte is a participatory project that combines photography and writing for unlinked children and teenagers from illegal armed groups in Colombia. It was developed in 2010 together with the journalist Daniela Mejía.
These children, because of their past and experiences, have a life full of depths and also of simplicity; of love and heartbreak; of life and death; of certainties and lies; of struggles and failures; of joys and nostalgia; of past and future. There is only one difference between their lives and those of other children: the war and the deep emotional wounds it has left them.
Life has transformed these children abruptly. One day they left their homes to devote their lives to someone else’s cause, with the loyalty of the children. They entered with the only hope of knowing that something could change. They played to give their lives for what adults taught them, thinking that was the truth they had not discovered. Just as other adults had received them for war, the adults who now receive them must give them tools for peace and create a conducive environment for it.
